SCHOLARSHIP

Academic performance is highly valued at Phi Sigma Kappa. While MIT classes can be very challenging, a culture of supporting one another and studying together have allowed brothers to maintain high marks in their classes with a 4.61 average GPA which places us among the highest performing fraternities on campus. Our alumni organization also places an emphasis on academic achievement by rewarding brothers when they receive a 5.0 semester.

Phi Sigs bring their ideas and talents into industry and research. Brothers go on to work at companies including Apple, Facebook, SpaceX, Tesla, and Goldman Sachs. Brothers also pursue graduate degrees at Stanford, Harvard, Caltech, and MIT

ATHLETICS

Many of our brothers played varsity sports in high school, and most of us continue to stay active through MIT varsity teams, club teams, and intramural sports.

We have 30 varsity athletes in 8 varsity sports including: Baseball, Heavyweight and Lightweight Rowing, Soccer, Tennis, Track, Sailing, and Squash. Among our members you will also find 5 varsity team captains on both Rowing teams, the Soccer team, the Squash team, and the Tennis team.

Phi Sig also takes part in Intramural sports like Ice Hockey, Soccer, Badminton, Dodgeball, and Basketball.

For off-season training we have a fully-loaded weight room in our basement which makes it easy to get a quick lift in anytime.

LEADERSHIP

In addition to the 5 varsity team captains, brothers of Phi Sig hold 3 executive offices on the Inter-fraternity Council (IFC) including the Vice President, Treasurer, and Risk Manager. We also have 9 Presidents or executives of various clubs on campus including: the Chinese Student Club, the Sloan Business Club, the MIT Consulting Group, the Finance Club, the Tech, the Infinite Magazine, the Real Estate Club, and Road Kill Buffet.

We take leadership seriously and offer a variety of in-chapter leadership positions where our brothers develop their leadership skills and take on major responsibility.

SOCIAL

With everything else we’ve got going on in our lives at MIT brothers at Phi Sig still find time to hang out with each other to play video games, watch movies, play poker or just chill.

We also regularly throw parties, inviting other members of both the MIT community and other nearby universities to let loose on a Friday night. Other big events we host include our Iron Chef week, during which our brothers compete to cook 3-course meals for friends and family, and Marathon Monday during which we grill and support the runners as they pass our house on the way to the finish line.
